The Fell Knight is a literary tapestry that weaves together intricate psychological, emotional, spiritual, and moral themes, creating a profound narrative for both the protagonist and the reader. Book I: Dark Night, deals with the origins of the Fell Knight's story, taking place in ancient medieval times. A warrior's sword and a man's word was all he ever had back then.
Psychological and Emotional Development: Throughout the ten chapters, the Fell Knight's character undergoes a profound transformation. He evolves from a naive and vengeful young knight into the Fell King, a complex figure who grapples with the elements of power, love, and identity. His psychological quest is marked by internal conflicts, including a struggle between idealism and reality, the acceptance of his darker nature, and the exploration of his own vulnerabilities. His emotional evolution, on the other hand, is a roller coaster of love, betrayal, and self-discovery. Each chapter peels back layers of his infinite depth, revealing the multi-faceted angles of his inner world.
Spiritual and Moral Themes: The story is imbued with spiritual undertones, particularly evident in the mystical elements, the divine nature of the Sirens, and the ultimate sacrifice of the Valkyrie. These elements add a deeper dimension to the story, symbolizing themes of destiny, redemption, and the blurred lines between good and evil. The Fell King's path is not just a physical enduring but a spiritual test, a search for meaning and purpose in a world filled with moral ambiguities. The lessons in the tale are profound, emphasizing the transformative power of self-awareness, the courage to embrace one's true nature, and the consequences of choices made in the pursuit of justice.
Growth of the Fell Knight into the Fell King: The Fell Knight's deterioration into the Fell King is the tale's core. It is a symbol of the hero's process, from innocence to wisdom, from vengeance to understanding, from a single-minded pursuit of justice to a more nuanced view of the world. The Fell Knight's growth into the Fell King mirrors the universal human experience of self-discovery and self-acceptance. It underscores the idea that true strength lies not only in physical prowess but in the ability to confront one's own demons and vulnerabilities. It's a reminder that the path to self-realization is often fraught with challenges and moral dilemmas, but it is ultimately an effort worth undertaking.
Overall Meaning: The Fell Knight is a tale that explores the multifaceted nature of humanity, the complexities of love and power, and the eternal quest for self-identity. It challenges conventional notions of heroism and villainy, revealing that these distinctions are not always clear-cut. It invites readers to ponder the deeper questions of existence, the balance between light and darkness, and the profound impact of choices on one's destiny. Ultimately, it is a story of transformation, redemption, and the enduring power of the human spirit.
The Change. From Valor to Vengeance: A warrior on the path of light whom has undergone an unexpected encounter of vast darkness and plight. This outburst of suffering leads the warrior to a place far beyond any wildest expectations. Now walking a blind road of faith, a great transformation takes place. All that the warrior has fought for will be robbed and raped from him. His dreams shall birth stillborn until he feels no more. Those he loves will worry for him and even consider him dangerous. His focus is wily now, his demeanor crass and his intentions indifferent. He is a monster now. One that demons fear and angels remorse for. Not even they know what they are witness to.
No mortal understands the path the warrior is on now. The light of his Sun now eclipsed with shadow, blood and bone. His spirit nearly corrupt, his heart filled with malice, yet he means no ill will. He cannot help what is happening to him and carries on, despite the toll that the role of the Fell Knight takes upon his aura. For what purpose does this cursed way serve? One that cannot be placed into words. It is his last sliver of hope for any salvation. Not just for his own soul, but for the sake of all he is involved with. His destiny is at stake if he cannot rise above this trial. He shall be consumed unto the deepest catacombs of insanity. A madness that will never fade but worsen with time. What arises from there is the black flame of a phoenix that should never be called upon or allowed to ember.
Appearance: Once
a bright, lustrous knight brimming with vibrant metallic hues, symbolic
of one’s tribe and purpose. Clean shaven, long golden hair, a radiating
smile backed by a tempered blade of divine energy and a morale that is
unbreakable. Upon the change into the Fell Knight, it starts in the
eyes. Always in the eyes. They set like the sun, to a visage of gloom.
Blood begins to pour from them when sorrow overtakes the knight. It is
often. His hair withers as the leaves do unto Winter, his beard now
grown. His very hands are crimson from the enemies he has ridden.
His blade once radiating a silver sheen now engulfed in rose. His armor discarded to the wayside and a new set acquired from a dark mystic. This veil of shadow empowers his newly formed chakras and assists the Fell Knight in his dastardly sword skills. He draws from the energy of his enemies’ hatred and infuses his own pain, physically and spiritually. He wounds himself and in turn his opponent feels this ten fold. Eradicated. The Fell Knight is an extremely rare level of swordsman. Volatile, chaotic, brutal and unforgiving. A kamikaze, even if need be.
Source Power: The Fell Knight draws his insidious energy from the insanity of his thoughts, emotions and shattered ideals. Blood, Bone and Spirit are his source of energy, but only upon sacrificing his own. That, is the characteristic of what he has suffered at the hands of all before him. Never did they sacrifice for him, so he has come to collect and to devastate. Serving neither the light nor the dark, The Fell Knight is of his own realm. He must upkeep and expend his own energies, as the universe has been severed from him. God understands his path but cannot support it. The devil is envious but cannot interfere. The Fell Knight wishes not for Heaven or Hell, but for Oblivion. An end to it all.
All Fell Knights trail along after a while, losing sight of any purpose and forgetting what they even were set out to become. This is the real test of his being. Can he forge forward while having no more vision? How strong is his faith? Or at the least, his will? It’s a gamble, as he rapidly loses himself more and more. Even the most perverse are frightened of his presence. Those closest to him do not trust his temperament any longer. Even he himself, questions his motives and continuance. Often times, he feels he is evil beyond salvation and has no quest at all. He will attempt to destroy himself, but never follow through. This path is too strong to be cut. He must follow through unto the end.
Path to The Fell King: The Path of Ruin is undertaken by The Fell Knight. His original wish and dream was to become a Risen Knight, a warrior that is purely of the light and serves righteousness to the end. However, The Fell Knight soon realizes upon confronting the real world that not all is black and white. The shades of gray that are often ignored and denied are the very aspects one must reconcile with if he is to be whole. His trek takes a dire twist as he must become the essence of nought in order to fight the greater evils of his world.
This confounds The Fell Knight into his role of demise. Driven by an insatiable lust for justice and a greater understanding, his peak into The Fell King is one of decimation and meditation. He is not a force to be trifled with one bit. What to do with such revelations of power, plight and sheer terror? What is anyone to do with such bearings upon their crown? What price is to be paid to The Fell King now?
